YAKO, Burkina Faso — Last Saturday, the Northern Patriots Movement (MPN) and the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC) Passoré section organized a march through Yako to express their backing for the transitional authorities and to call for a coalition among Sahel states. The procession commenced at Naba-Djiguèmdé square, weaving through significant local landmarks, and concluded back at the starting point, with participants singing the national anthem as a gesture of solidarity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the march demonstrated the commitment of Passoré province’s residents to support the transitional authorities. Throughout the event, demonstrators displayed banners and placards with messages advocating for an extended transitional period and opposing ECOWAS interventions. The slogans voiced a clear preference for local solutions and a strong backing for the transitional leadership under Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

Sanata Ouédraogo, representing the movements backing the transitional authorities, highlighted the march as a step toward securing a stable transition, peace, and security in Burkina Faso. She emphasized that Captain Traoré should continue his efforts against destabilizing forces and enhance agricultural and military capabilities. Furthermore, she argued against rushing into elections, suggesting that the accomplishments of the transitional government warrant continued governance without immediate electoral processes.

The head of national coordination for the citizen watch of Passoré, Baba Ouédraogo, and his colleagues affirmed the unwavering support of Yako’s residents for Captain Traoré and acknowledged the community’s strong turnout for the rally.
