Ouagadougou: Parkers attending the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) have expressed their approval of the increased security measures implemented at the event, which they say are improving their working conditions. According to Burkina Information Agency, the presence of law enforcement officers has been welcomed by parkers, who are responsible for managing parking facilities at the fair. They noted that the robust security arrangements deter criminal activity, creating a safer environment for both visitors and workers.

Ismaël Kabré, a parker from the Yamtenga district, mentioned that although business is slow just days after the fair’s opening, he manages to earn around 15,000 FCFA daily. His colleague, Adama Tapsoba, reported slightly higher earnings of nearly 20,000 FCFA per day. Meanwhile, Adama Congo, another parker from Ragnongo, expressed pride in the successful organization of SIAO, viewing it as a testament to the resilience of the Burkinabe people amid ongoing securit
y and humanitarian challenges. Congo noted that his daily income reaches approximately 50,000 FCFA.

Customers Salam Kaboré and David Ouédraogo acknowledged the efforts of parkers in safeguarding their vehicles, paying 200 FCFA to secure parking for their bikes. The parkers also commended the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) for their ongoing battle against terrorism, often putting their lives at risk. Additionally, they lauded President Ibrahim Traoré for his dedication to restoring the nation’s territorial integrity.
