Burkina/Kombissiri: Renovation of a 91-year-old maternity ward

The first maternity ward of Kombissiri, built in 1932 and non-functional for a long time, was renovated to the tune of 17.5 million FCFA by the Teeb-Manegda association (ATM) Burkina Faso, learned AIB.

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 21, 2023, the special delegation from the commune of Kombissiri led by its president Hamidou Yarbanga proceeded to the inauguration of the former maternity ward of the urban medical center (CMU) of Kombissiri, completely restored new condition by the Teeb-Manegda association (ATM-Burkina) with the support of their Swiss partners “Rose des sables”.

The ceremony which took place in the presence of managers and certain agents of the CMU allowed the delegation to visit the entire completely revamped building and the installations made inside.

For the president of ATM-Burkina Faso, Pasteur Boureima Pascal Ouédraogo, the renovation of this maternity hospital built in 1932 and which was in a dilapidated state, is the continuation of the renovation work on all the buildings of the medical center started in 2020.

This maternity ward, he specifies, will offer a more pleasant working environment for health workers and allow women to give birth in the best conditions.

The completion of the renovation work, which cost more than 17,500,000 FCFA, concerned the electrical system, painting, plumbing, waterproofing, ceilings, tiles, air conditioners, lighting, glass metal openings, among others. others.

The maternity equipment consisting of beds and medical-technical equipment has already been acquired and will be delivered in the coming days, according to Pastor Boureima Pascal Ouédraogo.

The old renovated maternity ward is connected by a footbridge to the new one which had also been partly renovated, to offer staff more work space.

The head of the CMU maternity ward, Marie Madeleine Kahoun, happy with this gesture, thanked the association and their partners for these achievements. Mr. Hamidou Yarbanga also expressed the recognition of the special delegation for all the actions of the association for the benefit of the commune of Kombissiri and invited the beneficiaries to ensure good maintenance of the premises and equipment.
