Hearing Djibrill Bassolé: Burkina Faso strongly denounces the attitude of the French authorities

Burkina Faso denounced and protested vigorously against the attitude of the French authorities, after the hearing on June 22, 2023, of its former head of diplomacy Djibrill Bassolé by the French National Assembly, about the security situation in Burkina and the Sahel, AIB has learned from reliable sources.

For Ouagadougou, the French authorities knowing the status of Djibrill Bassolé, should not grant him an official platform to evoke lightly and in an erroneous way, subjects related to the sovereignty of Burkina Faso.

Thus, Burkina Faso invites the French government to ensure that Mr. Bassolé does not perform acts on French soil that could compromise relations between the two countries.

As a reminder, the general of the gendarmerie and former head of Burkinabe diplomacy, Djibrill Yipènè Bassolé was sentenced in September 2019 to 10 years in prison for his involvement in the putsch of September 2015.

He was evacuated on January 28, 2020 to France for health reasons.

Given his status, according to Ouagadougou, Mr. Bassolé should refrain from any propaganda and exhibition activities that the French authorities should ensure that they are respected.

Before his hearing at the French National Assembly, Djibrill Bassolé also analyzed the security situation in Burkina Faso and the Sahel with a major media.
