Nigerien Craftsmanship Takes Center Stage at 17th Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair

Ouagadougou: Niger will be the guest of honor at the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) in Burkina Faso, scheduled from October 25 to November 3, 2024. The event, celebrated for showcasing creativity and artisanal expertise, will feature high-quality Nigerien products, demonstrating the country’s rich cultural and craft heritage.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister of Crafts and Tourism, Ms. Sofiane Agaichata Guichene, announced during a press briefing that she will lead a dynamic delegation to the fair, comprising ministry executives and talented artisans. This delegation aims to present the diversity and exceptional quality of Nigerien products to a global audience. The event is seen not only as an exhibition but as a platform for showcasing Niger’s cultural wealth and artisanal heritage.

For the first time, Niger’s highest authorities have extended full support to the delegation, covering transportation and the rental of thirty exhibition stands. Of these,
ten are air-conditioned and twenty are ventilated, all of which will be branded to highlight Niger’s craftsmanship. The Minister expressed gratitude to the authorities, including Brigadier General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland, and Prime Minister Ali Mahaman LAMINE ZEINE, for their steadfast support of the craft sector.

Minister Guichene emphasized the importance of professionalism and excellence, urging artisans to ensure that each product reflects Niger’s know-how, culture, and identity. She highlighted the fair as an opportunity to build relationships, exchange ideas, and discover new trends within the craft sector. Artisans were encouraged to use this platform to showcase creativity and professionalism, aiming to conquer new markets and strengthen Niger’s position on the international scene.

anal heritage deserves recognition and celebration.
