Tondoro Health Centre in Rundu Hit by Flooding After Thunderstorm

RUNDU: The Tondoro Health Centre in the Kavango West Region experienced flooding due to a heavy thunderstorm, causing waterlogging in various areas of the facility. Ben Nangombe, Executive Director of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, informed the media that despite the flooding, no significant damage to medical equipment or supplies occurred.

According to The Namibia Press Agency, The rainwater, which accumulated along a nearby gravel road, led to the inundation of the health centre’s waiting area, reception, pharmacy storage, and delivery room. Nangombe stated that the ministry is coordinating with the Roads Authority to implement measures to prevent future flooding. These measures include creating channels for stormwater diversion and constructing barrier walls around vulnerable areas of the health centre. Fortunately, no injuries to patients, staff, or the public were reported in connection with the flood.
