NHE Invests in Housing Development Across Namibia

Omuthiya – The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) has committed nearly N.dollars 60 million towards constructing 144 houses in Omuthiya, Ondangwa, and Okahao, in an effort to address the national housing backlog.

According to Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA), Erastus Uutoni, this initiative is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring adequate housing and infrastructure, as per national development frameworks like Vision 2023 and the Harambee Prosperity Plan 2. Uutoni, speaking at the official handover of NHE houses in Okahao, highlighted the town’s cooperation in providing land for housing development. Toska Sem, the NHE board chairperson, outlined the organization’s plans to construct over 1,400 housing units countrywide in the 2023/24 financial year, with a projected investment of over N.dollars 770 million. The NHE’s objective is to build and finance quality, affordable housing for Namibians, working closely with local authorities and stakeholders. Additionally, the Okahao Town Council honored its mayor, Cornelia Iiyambulua, and deputy mayor, Julia Katoole, for their long service.
