ELDORET: Uasin Gishu County is witnessing a significant push towards affordable housing with over 4,000 units currently under construction. Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has lauded the Kenya Kwanza administration for its role in actualizing this vision and providing decent housing for the residents.
According to Kenya News Agency, the governor highlighted during a recent event in Eldoret that developments are rapidly progressing in several areas within the county. Kidiwa is seeing the construction of 220 units, Pioneer is set to have 2,260 units, AMS is developing 205 units, and Eldoret railway city will host 2,200 units. This effort is aimed at ensuring quality housing for both current and future generations as the region continues to urbanize.
The governor also noted that these housing projects have spurred employment opportunities, particularly for women and youths at the construction sites. Additionally, with Eldoret’s recent elevation to city status in August, there are ongoing efforts to enhance infrastru
cture, which include upgrading roads, drainage, sewerage systems, and improving security.
The infrastructure improvements are not limited to urban areas. Dr. Bii emphasized that rural regions have benefited as well, with over 1,700 kilometers of roads graded and 700 kilometers graveled to improve connectivity and ensure safer travel for local communities. The housing and infrastructure projects are ongoing in areas such as Kipkaren, Langas, Kiplombe, and Maili nne, reflecting a comprehensive approach to development across Uasin Gishu County.
