Ethiopia Reports $2.5 Billion in Export Revenues Over Nine Months


Addis Ababa – Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration has reported that the nation garnered over $2.5 billion from export trade during the first nine months of the current fiscal year. This revenue represents significant economic activity across various sectors.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the total earnings of $2.51 billion accounted for 70.49 percent of the targeted $3.56 billion. The agricultural sector contributed 73.6 percent to these figures, with manufacturing, mining, electricity, and other products also showing strong performances. Specifically, the export of oilseeds, grain products, sugarcane, khat, livestock, forestry products, and livestock fodder, all overseen by the Ministry, brought in $699.11 million, achieving 86.19 percent of the planned $811.13 million for the period. This marked an increase of $69.88 million compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.



The Ministry emphasized the need to enhance the country’s export trade performance by addressing issues such as smuggling and illegal trade, and by promoting the use of digital transactions.
