Arrest Made for Drug Possession in Oranjemund; Fatal Vehicle Accident Reported in Otjozondjupa

ORANJEMUND – On Friday, Namibian authorities apprehended a 36-year-old man on charges of drug possession during a roadblock operation in Oranjemund.

According to NAMPA, the suspect was detained around 11:00 AM on Swartkop Road with four bags of cannabis, carrying an estimated value of N$7,000. Concurrently, a tragic incident occurred in the Otjozondjupa Region, where 60-year-old Kasiringua Uapakua perished in a vehicle accident on the Otjituuo/Okamatapati C47 gravel road. The vehicle reportedly rolled multiple times, leading to multiple injuries that resulted in Uapakua’s death at a local clinic. Police investigations are ongoing for both the drug arrest and the vehicular accident.
