Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will welcome in Athens tomorrow, May 9, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Raychelle Awour Omamo.
The two Foreign Ministers will have a one-on-one meeting, which will be followed by expanded talks.
The two Ministers will then sign a “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Kenya on cooperation in the field of Diplomatic Training”.
Joint statements to the press are expected to take place at approximately 13:55.
Then a working lunch will follow.
Discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening bilateral relations in areas of common interest, on EU-African Union relations, global challenges such as the fight against the pandemic and climate change, as well as on international developments. It is noted that Kenya is a non-permanent Member of the UN Security Council for the 2021-22 term.
Minister of Foreign Affairs’ invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kenya is part of the ongoing contacts with the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The two Foreign Ministers met in Rome, in June 2021, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition against the “Islamic State”.
