I believe it is very important that this commendable initiative of Shakhtar Donetsk FC starts from here, from Athens, and with the match with Olympiakos FC.
And I am certain that the Greek public will respond warmly to this effort.

I reiterate, it is for a good cause: to support the people of Ukraine in their strive for freedom and national independence.

Freedom and national independence are always close to the heart of Greeks.

And you will allow me a small personal remark: the fact that I, an avid Panathinaikos fan, am present here today demonstrates just how important this event is.
