Niger Celebrates Cultural Ties at Burkina Faso’s National Culture Week


OUAGADOUGOU — Niger was honored as the guest country at the 21st edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) in Burkina Faso, where Colonel Major Abdourahamane Amadou, Nigerien Minister of Youth, Sport, Culture and the Arts, lauded the event’s organization and its role in fostering cultural exchange. The week-long biennial, held in Ouagadougou, served as a platform for showcasing the cultural diversity of Burkina Faso and facilitating international cultural dialogue.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was excellently organized and allowed for a robust expression of cultural identity and solidarity among African nations. He highlighted the seamless integration and representation of various African communities, noting that about ten countries participated, demonstrating cultural similarities with Burkina Faso. The minister emphasized the importance of culture in supporting the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which includes Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali, suggesting that shared cultural heritage is crucial to achieving the alliance’s objectives of sovereignty and dignity. The theme of this year’s edition, “Culture, historical memory, and patriotic surge for a new Burkina,” underscored the role of culture in national and regional identity.
