Colonel-Major Kassoum Coulibaly Elevated to Rank of Brigadier General

Ouagadougou – Kassoum Coulibaly, the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, received his brigadier general stripes in a ceremony chaired by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of the Transition and Head of State, on Monday, October 30, 2023.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Coulibaly expressed his gratitude to the Head of State and reaffirmed his commitment to reclaiming the territorial integrity of Burkina Faso. He dedicated his nomination to the Combatting Forces and particularly to the memory of fallen soldiers and security personnel. Coulibaly emphasized that his new rank will not be “stripes of rest” and promised to achieve the objectives set by the President of the Transition as quickly as possible. The ceremony followed military tradition and was attended by active general officers, second-section officers, and Army Chiefs of Staff.
