Tunisia guest of honour at Expo Olivia 2023, in Spain

Tunisia will be the guest of honour at the international oil exhibition “Expo Olivia 2023” to be organised in Spain in May 2023, as it has succeeded in consolidating its position on several markets, notably in the packaged olive oil field.

The Tunisian participation was the focus of a meeting between Director General of the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA) Inji Douggui Hanini and Executive Director of the International Council of Oils Lotfi Ghdira.

The two sides pointed out the importance of the role of the APIA as a Tunisian structure in charge of the development of investments especially in the olive oil field as a strategic sector, and of the international council of oil as an international structure that contributes to the reinforcement and development of the olive oil sector at the international level.

They discussed the scope of marketing Tunisian olive oil on the external market through the improvement of the productivity of Tunisian olive trees and the boosting of export.

According to the forecasts of the Agriculture Ministry, the national production of olives stands at 900 thousand tonnes during the 2022-2023 season, corresponding to a volume of 180 thousand tonnes of oil against 1.2 million tonnes of olives, compared to 240 thousand tonnes of oil during the last season.
