Nyamira Residents Encouraged to Support Vulnerable Groups During Christmas Celebrations

NYAMIRA – As the Christmas season approaches, residents of Nyamira are being encouraged to remember and celebrate with the vulnerable members of their communities and families. Nicholas Rioki, the Nyamira South Sub County Social Development Officer, highlighted the importance of supporting disabled persons and the elderly, who often struggle to meet basic needs and may not experience the festive season as others do.

According to Kenya New Agency, individuals who have the means to spend festively are urged to extend their love and support to these vulnerable community members. He noted the therapeutic benefits of small acts of kindness to the less privileged, pointing out the strong bonds and feelings of love that can develop between the giver and the recipient.

Rioki confirmed that the government has already disbursed funds for the cash transfer programme for November, benefiting those who receive the stipend. He advised the recipients to use these resources wisely. Despite the stipend being perceived as modest, Rioki emphasized its significance in alleviating suffering by covering basic needs like food and healthcare.

The official also addressed those who registered for the programme last September, explaining that their data is still being processed and captured in the system. He assured them that the government will communicate the next steps once data verification is complete and urged them not to panic as the report on their registration status will be available soon.
