Igembe South, Kenya – Member of Parliament for Igembe South, Johnpaul Mwirigi, has announced plans to set up an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hub aimed at providing employment opportunities for jobless youths through online jobs. This initiative was disclosed during the distribution of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) bursaries at Auki Primary School in Igembe South sub-county.

According to Kenya News Agency, the proposed ICT hub is designed not only to provide online job opportunities for unemployed youths but also to enhance digital literacy in the region. He encouraged local youths to utilize the hub once established and highlighted that residents would have access to free training to improve their digital skills.

In addition to the ICT hub, Mwirigi also addressed the distribution of NGCDF bursaries. He assured that all applicants for the bursaries would receive a portion of the funds. “I appreciate all students and parents for their eagerness in applying for the bursary, and I assure that no applicant will be overlooked,” the MP stated.

The MP emphasized the importance of academic dedication among students and called for a 100% transition in local educational institutions. He tasked the local administration with overseeing this process.

Furthermore, Mwirigi expressed his gratitude to the national government for integrating ICT into the national development agenda. He mentioned the potential financial benefits of online jobs, noting that individuals could earn upwards of Sh30,000 a week, which would significantly address the high unemployment rate among the youth.

The establishment of the ICT hub in Igembe South represents a strategic move towards leveraging technology for economic development and youth empowerment in the region.
