LODWAR – The Lodwar Municipality Board is set to begin formulating policies and regulations aimed at improving service delivery within the town, marking a strategic priority for the fiscal year 2024-2025. This initiative responds to the statutory requirements outlined in the Kenya Urban Areas Management Act of 2011, emphasizing the board’s role in enhancing the municipal framework for the benefit of Lodwar residents.

According to Kenya News Agency, the chair of the Municipality Board, the development of these policies is crucial for establishing clear standards for service quality within the municipality. She noted that the current absence of specific policies and regulations has limited the administration’s ability to guarantee and enhance service standards. The board’s commitment reflects an acknowledgment of its responsibility to provide a structured approach to municipal service delivery, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness to the needs of Lodwar’s population.

The board’s recent meeting, which included discussions on the upcoming financial year’s budgetary allocations and priority projects, signifies a concerted effort to address critical areas of need within the municipality.
