Main Suspect in Mlolongo Hairdresser Murder Arraigned; Mental Checkup Ordered

Machakos — The main suspect in the murder of Jennifer Mwende, a Mlolongo-based hairdresser, appeared today before a Machakos High Court.

According to Kenya News Agency, Phyllis Nzula Mbithi did not enter a plea and was ordered to undergo a mental checkup to determine her fitness to stand trial. The case will be mentioned again on November 11, and the suspect will remain in custody at Machakos GK Prisons.

Mbithi is suspected to have been involved in the murder along with two other suspects, Everlyn Wanza and Faith Nthemba. Both Wanza and Nthemba have denied the charges and are also in custody at Machakos GK Prisons. Their case will be heard on November 14. The suspects are accused of killing Jennifer Mwende by strangulation and subsequently dumping her body in a pit latrine in Mlolongo town.
