Three suspects arrested for possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunitions

The Crime Intelligently driven operation with assistance of Phuthaditjhaba Public Order Police Unit members have successfully seized three illegal firearms and ammunitions from three suspects at Tshiame B and C near Harrismith.

Apparently, on 8 September 2023- an Intelligence was gathered around people suspected to have firearms in Harrismith through community assistance.

The information was as operationalized where the team began at Tshiame B at identified house where they searched and hidden rifle and bullets under the bed. Both 26 and 20 old couple also foreign nationals couldn’t account for the firearm which its serial numbers are removed. The two are also undocumented persons. They were both arrested and detained.

Later at about 19:00 the team went to second house at Tshiame C where they found 34-year-old man also in possession of shotgun rifle and four bullets. His arrest led police to his parent’s home where further 285 various sorts of ammo, six boxes, two shotgun belts and rifle telescope. The suspect also couldn’t account for the ammo. He has been arrested and detained.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrate court on Monday, 11 September 2023 facing charge of possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunitions and as illegal immigrants.
