Kitui County Achieves Enhanced Service Delivery through Performance Contracting

Kitui – Kitui County Government has recorded notable improvements in service delivery to its residents, thanks to the adoption of staff performance contracting throughout the 2022-2023 financial year. This practice has been instrumental in helping the county surpass its revenue targets for the year.

According to Kenya News Agency, who spoke at a celebration event at Ithookwe Show grounds near Kitui Township, the success in enhancing service across the county’s 16 sectors can be attributed to the institutionalization of performance management within the Kitui County Public Service. “Performance contracting has been key in improving the quality of services provided to the public,” stated the governor.

The governor observed that the engagement of staff in their respective workplaces has led to more efficient and effective service delivery in the government. These remarks came a few days after Dr. Malombe presided over the County Ministerial contracts for performance contracting monitoring and evaluation for the financial years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.

“The event marked the culmination of efforts to enhance service delivery and foster accountability within the public services,” added Dr. Malombe. He emphasized that the implementation of Performance Contracting has not only established benchmarks for excellence but has also fostered a culture of accountability and transparency within the public service of Kitui County.

Governor Malombe highlighted that this initiative celebrates the achievements and acknowledges the dedication and hard work of all individuals involved in the public service of Kitui County. “As the county continues to focus on excellence, the emphasis on performance management is a cornerstone for sustainable development and improved citizen satisfaction,” he said.

During the ceremony, Governor Malombe awarded certificates to the best-performing sectors. Deputy Governor Wambua Kanani, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kinengo, County Executive Members, Chief Officers, directors, and all employees of the county government attended the event.
