Kenyan Officials to Receive GIS Training Under New Agreement with Chinese Tech Firm

Kenya – Kenya’s Directorate of Resource Surveys and Remote Sensing (DRSRS) has entered into a collaboration with Supermap International, a Chinese technology firm, to enhance Kenya’s capabilities in geospatial technology. This partnership underscores Kenya’s efforts to leverage technology for national development.

According to Africa News Agency, the agreement involves providing advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) training to over 70 individuals from the Kenyan government, academia, and the private sector. This training program is slated to occur over one year, equipping participants with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in GIS technology. This collaboration represents a significant step in enhancing Kenya’s proficiency in geospatial technology, a critical tool for various development projects and planning in the East African nation.
