Kaolack Religious Leader Prays for Peace in Burkina Faso

OUAHIGOUYA — In a significant spiritual gathering, Cheikh Ibrahim Inyass, a distinguished religious leader from Kaolack, Senegal, led an evening dedicated to prayers for peace in Burkina Faso. The event took place on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the large mosque in sector No. 7 of Ouahigouya, drawing attention to the city’s call for tranquility amid unrest.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony commenced at 7 p.m. with residents from various parts of Ouahigouya converging on the mosque. Despite the scheduled start, the program began in earnest around 9 p.m. when Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass, along with local imams, made their entrance, signifying the start of a solemn prayer session. The event highlighted more than thirty minutes of ‘tarawih’, a significant evening prayer, focusing on invocations and blessings intended to foster peace in Burkina Faso.

The gathering underscored a message of solidarity from the people of Kaolack towards the residents of Ouahigouya and Burkina Faso at large. Sheikh Inyass expressed his awareness of the challenges faced by the people of Burkina Faso, offering reassurances and spiritual support. He extended prayers for the protection and success of Burkina Faso’s transitional authorities and security forces, emphasizing the importance of unity and resilience in overcoming adversity.

Attendees, including Adja Zoénabou Ouédraogo, expressed gratitude towards Sheikh Inyass for his visit and the spiritual support extended by the Senegalese community. The event concluded with a call for collective support for Burkina Faso’s authorities and defense forces, reinforcing a sense of hope and determination among participants.
