Burkina: The National Institute of Statistics wants to use all channels for the dissemination of its data

The National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD) intends to use all dissemination channels, in order to ensure wide use of its data by all.

“Convinced that the dissemination and use of data are essential steps in the statistics production chain, the INSD wants to explore all dissemination channels in order to ensure wide use of data by ordinary Burkinabè,” said declared the Director General of the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD), Boureima Ouédraogo.

According to him, the achievement of these results requires that the INSD relies on the role of mediator played by journalists to facilitate the transmission of the message to the understanding of the populations.

The Director General was speaking on Monday August 21, 2023 in Koudougou (Centre-West), during the opening ceremony of the workshop on training and ownership of statistical indicators for media professionals.

“I remain convinced that this training will improve your understanding of the basic concepts and analysis of the main economic and social indicators,” he said.

Boureima Ouédraogo invited participants to make the most of it for themselves and for their audiences.

For five days, more than twenty journalists from different media will take ownership of statistical indicators.

The National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD), created in 1958, is the official State body for statistical information.

Its mission is to set up an integrated national system for the development and dissemination of official statistics in economic, demographic, social and environmental matters.
