Ouagadougou: This Monday’s newspaper reports focused on two significant events in Burkina Faso-the inauguration of a new tomato factory in Bobo-Dioulasso and the official visit of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the state daily Sidwaya highlighted the opening of the Bobo-Dioulasso tomato processing plant, which is now producing its first “made in Burkina” products under the brand “A’diaa”. The factory, known as Société burkinabè de tomate (SOBTO), has the capacity to process 100 tons of fresh tomatoes daily, resulting in 800 kilograms of finished products per hour.

The newspaper L’Observateur Paalga reported that Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who inaugurated the factory, noted the project as a reflection of the patriotic spirit of both local and diaspora Burkinabe, who supported the initiative through popular shareholding. Le Pays also covered Captain Traoré’s expression of gratitude towards the Burkinabe people for their participation and support in the community entr
epreneurship program.

Sidwaya further reported on the visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexandre Novak, who engaged in discussions with the Burkinabe government on various cooperation areas, such as mining, agriculture, and digital transformation. The talks also explored establishing direct flights between Moscow and Ouagadougou and setting up a consular mission at the Russian embassy in Burkina Faso.

L’Express du Faso commented on the Russian delegation’s visit, emphasizing it as a step towards strengthening bilateral relations between Burkina Faso and Russia, encapsulated in the proverb “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
