Partnership Policing reaps success

Efforts to rid communities of illegal drugs through the effective application of partnership between the SAPS and communities yielded success when police members arrested suspects for the possession of drugs in two isolated incidents.

On Wednesday, 23 August 2023, members of Lansdowne police received information from the community about illicit activities taking place at a premises in the Flamingo informal settlement Lansdowne. A search warrant to search the premises was obtained and executed upon which the members found crystal meth, heroin and an undisclosed amount of cash hidden in a drain in a room of the house. Three men aged 20, 38 and 50 were arrested for the possession of drugs

They are due to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on Friday, 25 August 2023.

In an unrelated matter, members of Sea Point police arrested a 42-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman when they were found in possession of mandrax tablets in Main Road, Sea Point on Wednesday evening. The members searched a premises and found the100 mandrax tablets after chasing and apprehending a suspect who fled into an apartment.

The suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ court on Friday, 25 August 2023.

Furthermore members of Sea Point police arrested three suspects aged 20, 24 and 26 following a robbery which occurred on Thursday morning in Thornhill Road, Green Point. The members in collaboration with the Green Point neighbourhood watch and a private security company searched for the suspects after police received the complaint. The integrated and rapid response ensured that the victim’s property was recovered and returned.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ court on a charge of robbery.
