Inaugural Epukiro Auction Draws Significant Interest with Over 800 Cattle

OMAUEZONJANDA — The first-ever Epukiro auction, hosted in the Omaheke Region, has attracted an impressive turnout, with more than 800 cattle being brought forward for sale.

According to The Namibia Press Agency, this event marks a significant milestone for the local farming community, offering a platform for better livestock prices and, consequently, improved living standards for residents. The auction, a collaborative effort between the Eastern Epukiro Farmers Association and Karoo-Ochse, aims to enhance economic conditions for communal farmers who rely heavily on livestock. Pakarae highlighted the importance of maintaining a minimum number of livestock for future auctions to ensure continued benefits for the community. The initiative has been applauded by local leaders and participants for its potential to support the farmers of Epukiro amid challenging conditions such as drought.
