Ouagadougou: The National Office for the Control of Development and Construction (ONC-AC) has directed the occupants of the northern side of the Prytanée militaire de Kadiogo (PMK) at Camp Bila Zagré to halt all construction activities. Occupants were warned that continuing investments in the area could result in financial losses, as the land is not designated for housing.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this directive was communicated by Karim Ouédraogo, head of the development control service of the regional branch of the Center of ONA-AC, during a visit aimed at raising awareness among the residents. He emphasized that the structures built with permanent materials are in a zone not meant for residential development, and these homes were obtained through developers dealing in non-subdivided areas. Ouédraogo clarified that these developers purchase the land from landowners and resell it after dividing it into smaller plots.
Ouédraogo highlighted that the city’s development plan does not allocate t
his part of the PMK for housing purposes. He urged current and potential investors to refrain from investing further in the area to prevent financial loss. Currently, ONC-AC is focused on raising awareness, and at an appropriate time, residents will be required to vacate the area.
The directive also criticized real estate developers for illegally subdividing land for residential purposes and urged buyers to be cautious. Felix Komkobo, the 1st Vice-President of the special delegation of district no. 9 of Ouagadougou, encouraged residents to adhere to ONC-AC’s instructions and await further guidance from the State.
Abdoul Rafour Nacanabo, a current resident, expressed concern over his investment of two million on the plot and eight million on construction. While ONC-AC agents could not provide immediate solutions, they assured that his concerns would be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
