Gourcy – The 20th edition of National Citizenship Week (SENAC) was inaugurated in Gourcy this Monday, October 23, 2023, with a flag-raising ceremony at the high commission of Gourcy, located in the Northern region of the country. The event takes place from October 23 to 27, 2023, under the theme “Citizenship in Action for the Reconquest of the National Territory.”

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabé, the ceremony was attended by directors and heads of provincial and departmental services, heads of NGOs and associations, as well as students from several primary and secondary schools in Gourcy. During his address, the High Commissioner stressed the importance of honoring, respecting, and defending the national flag and other symbols of the nation in every circumstance. Nabé pointed out that these symbols serve as reminders of the freedoms and dignities enjoyed today, which were attained through failures, successes, and sacrifices. He emphasized the need for memory, recognition, and vigilance, stating, “And above all actions to honor our share of responsibility in preserving the achievements of the sacrifices, sometimes supreme, made by our predecessors.”

Furthermore, Mr. Nabé called upon the youth to embody values such as integrity, dignity, and hard work, characteristics he said have always been associated with the Burkinabè people. The High Commissioner also noted that in addition to the national day of the flag and symbols of Faso, the week will feature various other activities across the country.
