Burkina: Internally displaced families benefit from food and sugar in Yatenga

The Songuitaaba Movement for the Development of Yatenga (MSDY), in favor of the month of Lent which begins this Thursday in Burkina, offered food to internally displaced people in Ouahigouya.

These are food consisting of bags of rice and boxes of sugar, worth about 500,000 FCFA which have been mobilized by the Songuitaaba Movement for the Development of Yatenga, in order to accompany internally displaced persons from Ouahigouya to the occasion of Lent.

On the eve of the fast, the coordinator of the Movement, Harouna Bologo explained the merits of the initiative to the beneficiaries. For him, Burkina Faso is going through difficult times, because of insecurity with its multiple consequences in the northern region.

“We are responding to the call from the highest authorities in the country to support the war effort,” he said.

For Mr. Bologo, other similar initiatives will be pursued for the benefit of other people in vulnerable situations in the country. He urged those of goodwill to follow in their footsteps to relieve the suffering of the people.

The dean of the beneficiaries, Pierre Nacanabo expressed all his satisfaction with the gesture of the movement which allows them to breathe a little bit.

“We can only say a big thank you to the donor and its members for thinking of us in this situation,” he concluded.
