Gourma Celebrates Achievements in Education with Awards for Top Performers

Fada N’Gourma — The province of Gourma acknowledged the hard work of its preschool and primary education stakeholders with an awards ceremony on Friday, October 27, 2023, in Fada N’Gourma.

According to Burkina Information Agency, both special and ordinary prizes were distributed to distinguish outstanding performance among educators and students in the region.

The ceremony spotlighted Mrs. Aissatou Koadima, a certified teacher at the primary school of sector 1 A in Fada N’Gourma, who led 139 students, with 131 of them passing the Certificate of Primary Studies (CEP) and 120 admitted to the 6th grade for the 2023 session. Her exceptional results earned her the title of best teacher in the province for this year’s edition of excellence. For her achievements, Mrs. Koadima received a certificate of merit and a motorcycle.

In her remarks, Ms. Koadima attributed her success to her commitment and dedication, dedicating her accolades to her students and mentors.

Highlighting student achievements, Benjamin Lankoandé, from the private Builders of Peace primary school, was named the best student of the past school year, achieving an average of 9.21/10 in the CEP. Lankoandé’s prize included a bicycle and a school kit.

Alima Barry, an internally displaced student, was also honored for her academic performance, securing an average of 8.00/10 in the CEP 2023. Barry was awarded a bicycle and a school kit and expressed her joy and determination to continue her educational journey.

The sponsor of this edition, Mathieu Lompo, who is also the director general of the Burkina Infrastructure Works Agency (AGETIB), commended the dedication of these individuals in their pursuit of knowledge. He stressed the importance of teachers’ relentless efforts in shaping futures and expressed his hope that the awarded youths would inspire their peers in the region, cautioning against the risks of mediocrity without proper support.
