Gnagna Women Commemorate International Women’s Day with Blood Donation Drive


BOGANDÉ – In a unique celebration of the 167th International Women’s Day, the women of Gnagna province, located in the Eastern region, organized a notable blood donation campaign, successfully collecting 28 bags of blood to support local patients. The event, held at the Bogandé sports arena, highlighted their commitment to community welfare and solidarity.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration spanned 72 hours and featured a variety of activities aimed at enhancing the community’s well-being. Among the main events were a sanitation day dedicated to cleaning public spaces and services throughout Bogandé, an aerobics session to promote health and fitness, and a visit to the local Defense and Security Forces to express support for their ongoing efforts against terrorism. The commemorative activities culminated in a shopping street event, allowing for community engagement and economic activity.



Alice Bikienga née Lankoandé, the provincial coordinator of women in Gnagna, voiced her support for the defense and security forces, invoking divine strength for them in their battle against terrorism and hoping for the restoration of peace across all localities of the country.



The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day in Burkina Faso, “Promotion of community entrepreneurship: what contribution of women,” underscored the pivotal role women play in driving economic growth and community development. The blood donation drive in Gnagna exemplifies the multifaceted contributions of women to societal health and solidarity, aligning with the broader national theme of empowering women through entrepreneurship and active participation in community life.
