Namibian Police in Oshana Region Tackle Mobility Challenges

ONDANGWA: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region is grappling with mobility issues, affecting their ability to respond promptly to reports. In an innovative approach to address this challenge, Regional Commander Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria is now offering his designated vehicle for police use when no other vehicles are available. Sakaria discussed this strategy in a recent interview with Nampa.

Sakaria noted that honesty with the public is key, and officers should communicate openly about the lack of available vehicles. He revealed that the region currently operates with about eight functional vehicles, with many grounded due to minor issues. Emphasizing the importance of mobility in effective crime-fighting, Sakaria called for local businesspeople and stakeholders to assist the police force. He pointed out that the region’s police vehicles, last received in 2015, have high mileage, leading to frequent breakdowns. In a gesture of community support, local businessman Johannes Sakaria of JSN Automotive Group repaired and handed over a vehicle to the Ondangwa Police Station on Wednesday. Johannes, who spent approximately N.dollars 17,000 on the repairs, expressed his commitment to aiding the police in their efforts to maintain public safety.
