France Leads Foreign Investment in Tunisia for 2023, Ahead of Qatar and Italy

Tunisia – France tops the list of foreign investors in Tunisia for the first nine months of 2023. International investments in Tunisia totaled 1862.1 MTND during this period, marking a 13.1% increase compared to the same period in 2022. The investments are divided between portfolio investments (136.4 MTND) and direct international investments (1725.7 MTND).

According to Africa News Agency, over half of the foreign direct investment (FDI) is concentrated in the Greater Tunis region, mainly in the governorate of Tunis and the North-East region. The breakdown of FDI flows by country places France in the lead with 446.8 MTND, accounting for 32.5% of total FDI excluding energy. Qatar and Italy follow as the second and third largest investors, respectively, with Germany and Switzerland also featuring in the top five.
