Embu – Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich has emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and security agencies to maintain safety during the festive season. He stressed the role of the community in reporting and exposing crimes to ensure a secure environment throughout the region and the country.
According to Kenya News Agency, speaking from his office in Embu, the success of maintaining law and order hinges on each individual playing their part effectively. He pointed out that security starts with the individual’s commitment to uphold it. As part of these efforts, he mentioned that multi-agency teams had been deployed across the region, and he called for the public’s cooperation with these teams to sustain security during the festive period.
In the context of traffic management, the regional commissioner underscored the necessity for motorists to consistently obey traffic rules to prevent accidents. “It is not solely the role of security officers to ensure we have no accidents on the roads, but a collective effort from everybody,” he stated. Additionally, he reported that all law enforcement officers on leave had been recalled to reinforce security across the region, aiming to guarantee the maintenance of public safety.
Bojanala – In an effort to enhance safety and security, the Bojanala District South African Police Service (SAPS) conducted a show of force operation on Saturday, 23 December, in areas recently transitioned from the Gauteng policing precinct. This operation marks the fourth of its kind in these newly integrated regions.
According to South African Police Service, the operation included a roadblock at R101 road in Maubane as part of Operation Safer Festive, in collaboration with Provincial Traffic. Present at the event were MEC of Transport Management and Safety Sello Lehari and Major General Modisagaarekwe Mosimanegape. The duo addressed local councilors, outlining the new policing procedures now that the area falls under the jurisdiction of Maakapaan SAPS, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mathaba. The General introduced police district personnel to the councilors, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between police members and councilors to combat criminal activities in the area. The councilors commended the efforts of the MEC and SAPS, noting the positive impact of the increased police presence.
