Dori Residents March in Solidarity with Burkina Faso’s Transitional Regime

Dori, Burkina Faso – The active forces of the Sahel region came together on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Dori to express solidarity with Burkina Faso’s transitional regime. The march also served as a platform for the community to call for the reopening of national road 3 (RN3).

According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the Sahel regional youth council (CRJ), the demonstration began at Arba Diallo Square in the center of Dori and covered nearly three kilometers to the governorate of the Sahel region. Participants, bearing flags of Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, and Russia, voiced their support for the transitional regime led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Maiga highlighted that the march aimed to show gratitude to the transitional authorities for their efforts in reconquering territory, ensuring national security, and promoting good governance.

The demonstration also underscored the region’s unconditional support for the transitions in Mali and Niger. Maiga paid homage to the defense and security forces (FDS) and the volunteers for the defense of the fatherland (VDP) for their achievements in securing the region.

In his address, Maiga conveyed the expectations of the Sahel populations, particularly concerning the reopening of RN3 and the stabilization of telecommunications networks. These issues are seen as vital for the region’s continued development and security.

The message of hope and support was received by Mr. Relwendé Ouédraogo, the High Commissioner of the Seno province, representing the governor of the Sahel region. Ouédraogo committed to forwarding the message to the relevant authorities.

This march in Dori follows a similar demonstration organized by the M27 movement on September 29, 2023, marking a continued trend of public support for the transitional regime and its efforts in the region.
