Detention warrant for Bechir Akremi

The investigating judge at the counter-terrorism division, on Friday, issued a detention warrant for former public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of Tunis Bechir Akremi, said defence lawyer Hammadi Zaafrani.

Charges are part of the complaint filed against him by the Democratic Patriots’ Unified Party, formerly “Al Watad,” Zaafrani told TAP, adding the warrant was issued while the accused has still not been questioned.

Béchir Akremi’s lawyers had issued a statement earlier in the day, indicating that their client’s custody ends on Friday after it was extended two days, by the acting investigating judge at the counter-terrorism division on March 8.

Akremi was arrested on Sunday February 12 following a complaint lodged by two police officers in connection with the terrorist attack on the Bardo museum (March 2015). Akremi allegedly threatened them in a phone call.
