Three suspects to appear in court on charges of dealing in narcotics and possession of presumable stolen property

On 2023-07-19, Muizenberg police received information with regards to the location of a possible unlicensed firearm and stolen vehicles which were possibly involved in an attempted murder and intimidation case reported at Muizenberg SAPS.

At about 08:00, Muizenberg SAPS members, approached a residence in Berg Street, Vrygrond. On arrival at the scene, a male suspect jumped over the back wall in an attempt to evade arrest by the member. However, he was chased and apprehended with 41 sachets tik and four mandrax tablets in his possession. The members then gained access to the premises and found two females in the house. A thorough search was conducted which led to the discovery of a large quantity of power tools. The members also recovered a 9mm Pietro Berretta pistol hidden under the dash of a Toyota Conquest, which was parked in the backyard. Two more vehicles were found on the scene, a white BMW, which was stolen in Diep River and a white Opel Corsa which had been stolen in Wynberg respectively.

Further confiscations on the scene included an air gun as well as a gas paint ball gun. An undisclosed amount of cash, suspected to be due to the proceeds of crime, was found and handed in as evidence.

A total of three suspects were arrested on the scene, a 27 year old male on a charge of dealing in narcotics and two females, aged 21 and 27, on a charge of possession of presumable stolen property.

All three suspects will be appearing in the Muizenberg Magistrates court, on Friday 21 July 2023.

The members were commended for their diligent efforts in swiftly responding to the information received and showcasing exemplary police work.
