The construction and operation of a 225-kilovolt overhead power line connecting the Borj Bourguiba photovoltaic power plant to the Tataouine substation will be carried out, under an order published by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy in the Official Journal of the Republic on March 3, 2023.
According to this text, the representatives of the Ministry of Industry and of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company, as well as the contracting company, have the right to access unbuilt plots of land not enclosed by walls or equivalent fences registered at the headquarters of the Tataouine governorate.
Tunisia in 2022 revised upwards its target to increase the share of renewable energy in electricity production to 35% from 30% in 2030.
Practically 90% of this share will come from wind and solar photovoltaic energy, according to the National Energy Management Agency (ANME).
