Ethiopia and UK Sign MoU to Combat Al-Shabaab Threat


ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia and the United Kingdom have solidified their commitment to jointly combat the regional threat posed by Al-Shabaab, a designated terrorist organization. This collaboration aims to enhance the resilience of communities located along the Ethiopia-Kenya-Somalia borders against the drivers of violent extremism.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was officially signed by Jamaludin Mustafa, Deputy Director-General of the Africa Department at the Ministry, and Darren Welch, the British Ambassador to Ethiopia. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marking a significant step in bilateral efforts to address security concerns in the region related to Al-Shabaab.
