CASCADES, BURKINA FASO — The town of Banfora in the Cascades region hosted a restrained observance of the 167th International Women’s Day, focusing on a health activity at the women’s house.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional director in charge of humanitarian action, the day’s activities were characterized by the cleaning of the women’s house and training sessions on the processing of local products, aimed at empowering women in the region.
The event saw significant participation from local women and was attended by regional authorities, demonstrating a collective commitment to resilience and support for the national government’s efforts. YAMEOGO/BELEM emphasized the importance of women’s continued engagement in community and economic development projects as a testament to their strength and resilience.
In addition to celebrating women’s achievements, the Governor of the Cascades region, Florent Badabouè BAZIE, called for community solidarity with internally displaced people and patriotic support for the ongoing fight against terrorism. He paid tribute to the women of the Cascades for their enduring resilience amid challenges and remembered the sacrifice of those who have fallen in defense of the nation.
Governor BAZIE expressed his admiration and respect for those risking their lives daily to maintain national unity and extended his well-wishes to the injured and families affected by conflict. The celebration in Banfora, though subdued, highlighted the community’s resolve to honor International Women’s Day meaningfully while acknowledging the broader challenges facing Burkina Faso.
