Sinimbo applaus WAD on its bid to fast-track poverty reduction

Deputy Minister of Industrialisation and Trade (MIT), Verna Sinimbo, praised the Women’s Action for Development (WAD) on Wednesday for its efforts to accelerate the reduction of poverty and unemployment in Namibia.

The deputy minister made these remarks during the WAD 2023 Otjozondjupa field day and graduation in Okahandja. In a statement released by MIT on Thursday, Sinimbo noted that 220 young people graduated at the ceremony, receiving certificates in various fields, including office administration, computer literacy, hospitality and tourism, gender-based violence, and intimate partner violence dialogue with men. These courses remain socially and economically significant within communities and nations at large.

‘We have all gathered here in the beautiful town of Okahandja to witness the graduation of 220 vibrant, dedicated unemployed youth of Okahandja at the WAD 2023 Otjozondjupa field day graduation ceremony. It is evident that Namibia has a dedicated and committed youth willing to strive for self-improvement through skills development, either to secure opportunities in the labour market or to become self-employed, independent, and self-sustained through their own income-generating ventures,’ she said.

The minister emphasized to the graduates that this is just the beginning of new opportunities and endeavours. She encouraged the graduates to remain persistent in pursuing their future plans and goals and not let this be their last achievement of its kind.
