Burkinabè Air Force Neutralizes Terrorists in Yatenga Following Ultimatum

Ouagadougou – In a decisive military operation, the Burkinabè Air Force successfully neutralized a group of terrorists in Yatenga, who had previously issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the residents of Nango and Yarcé near Ouahigouya.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation was carried out following the terrorists’ threat on the evening of November 11, 2023, which had disrupted the tranquility of the local populations.

The army, informed of the situation, acted swiftly within 10 hours to subdue the terrorists, ensuring the continued peace and safety of the local communities. The operation began with the air force locating the terrorists near Tangari, 8 km east of Gomboro. Despite an initial escape attempt by the terrorists, the army maintained its pursuit throughout the night. The base of the terrorists was eventually discovered near a river, where many of them were found relaxing.

On the morning of November 12, 2023, as the terrorists gathered under a tree, possibly for briefing by their leader, the aerial vectors launched a precise attack, resulting in multiple instant casualties. Those trying to flee or recover their motorcycles were effectively neutralized. Combat helicopters then thoroughly bombed the area, eliminating additional fugitives who were attempting to hide. Following a brief pause, more terrorists emerged on their mounts but were swiftly neutralized by the forces.

The ground troops subsequently moved in to secure the area, recover logistics, and completely dismantle the terrorist base. Five motorcycles managed to cross into Mali, where allied air carriers addressed the situation. This operation marks a significant victory for the Burkinabè military in combating terrorism and safeguarding the security of its citizens.
