Ouagadougou: The National Land Coordination Authority (ANCF) is set to organize a round table with key land stakeholders in Burkina Faso on November 14 and 15. The event aims to help stakeholders understand the missions of the ANCF and foster better collaboration for improved land management.

According to Burkina Information Agency, participants include representatives from administrative structures involved in land, civil society organizations, real estate developers, and the Order of Notaries. The Technical Secretary of the ANCF, Sibiri HEBIE, highlighted the lack of a formal framework for dialogue among the multiple actors involved in land management.

A unified approach from both public and private stakeholders is deemed necessary. “This is why we thought it was a good idea to invite all stakeholders so that they can get to know each other better and together identify pressing needs and draw up a roadmap to advise the authority and see how to address the land issue in the coming days,” explained HEBIE.

Me Yacouba DEMBELE, president of the Order of Notaries, emphasized the urgency of the matter, describing land as a “time bomb” for Burkina Faso. He noted that bringing all actors in the land chain together will help secure land prospects in the country.

Florentin KAFANDO, from the National Coordination of Real Estate Developers of Burkina (UNAPIB), expressed gratitude for the inclusion of real estate developers in the round table, hoping it would lead to effective solutions for land management.

Blaise YODA, the Prime Minister’s special advisor on land, also praised the creation of the ANCF, noting that it provides a much-needed unifying framework for all land stakeholders, addressing previously disparate and conflicting skills within ministerial departments.

The ANCF was established in February 2024 to streamline land management practices in Burkina Faso.
