Burkina Faso Inaugurates IRO-TEXTBURKINA Industrial Complex in Sourgou


SOURGOU – Friday morning marked a significant advancement in Burkina Faso’s textile industry as Captain Ibrahim Traore, the President of the Transition and Head of State, visited Sourgou in the Boulkiemdé province, Center-West region, to initiate the construction of the IRO-TEXTBURKINA SA textile industrial complex.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the establishment of this complex is geared towards enhancing the Burkinabè cotton value chain by supplying a range of textile products including yarns, fabrics, clothing, and medical products. The initiative is set to significantly contribute to the local economy by generating approximately 5,000 direct employment opportunities and fostering thousands of indirect jobs, thereby bolstering the nation’s efforts to develop its textile sector and reduce unemployment.
