Centre-Nord: A traditional celebration in the Centre-North region of Burkina Faso saw 101 individuals and entities recognized for their outstanding service and dedication to the nation. Presided over by Governor Blaise Ouédraogo, the event featured a troop review and the reading of a speech from the Head of State, highlighting the commitment of the honorees from the provinces of Bam, Namentenga, and Sanmatenga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony distinguished several individuals, with 18 recipients elevated to the rank of Knight of the Order of the Stallion and two made Officer of the Burkinabe Order of Merit. Additionally, 30 individuals were named Knights of the Burkinabe Order of Merit, and 13 were elevated to the rank of Knight of the Order of Merit and Rural Development. Other honorees included a Knight of the Order of Merit of Administration and Work, a recipient of the Order of Merit of Youth and Sports, a Knight of the Order of Merit of Commerce and Industry, and nine Knights of th
e Order of Merit of Health and Social Action.
A total of 22 recipients received medals of honor from local authorities, acknowledging their selflessness and commitment. Among the honorees was the High Commissioner of Sanmatenga, Idrissa Gamsonré, who was elevated to the rank of Knight of the Order of the Stallion after 16 years of service. He dedicated his medal to his collaborators, attributing the honor to collective efforts within his administration. Lieutenant Frédéric Baly Batiana, commander of the Kaya municipal police, was also recognized with a medal of honor after 24 years of service, expressing pride and encouraging his colleagues to continue their diligent work.
The ceremony also acknowledged associations for people with disabilities, with the Association of Disabled Women of Sanmatenga being decorated as Knight of the Order of Merit for Health and Social Action. Salamata Kafando, president of the association, expressed gratitude and urged active contributions to Burkina Faso’s development.
