Burkina Faso Army Neutralizes Terrorists in Central-East and North Operations

Ouagadougou: In a significant military operation, the Burkinabè army has neutralized numerous terrorists on the Central-East and North fronts. This development comes as the nation prepares for the holiday season, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, as reported by the AIB on Sunday, armed terrorist groups had planned to execute large-scale attacks in the Center-East zone of Burkina Faso. However, the army, supported by air vectors, successfully intercepted and stopped these plans. In a strategic operation in the Yourgin bush, located 15 kilometers from Ouargaye, the army located hundreds of terrorists soon after their arrival. Using intelligence services, the army identified several groups of terrorists consulting under large trees and launched air strikes on the largest group.

In the Gorgadji area, the Combatant Forces successfully repelled a terrorist attack early on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of several terrorists and the recovery of a substantial war arsenal. Further operations involved pursuing a column of nearly 7 kilometers of terrorists on motorcycles and pickups, with the assistance of aerial vectors.

In Djika, terrorists parked under large trees were neutralized, along with a pickup truck mounted with heavy weapons. Some of the terrorists fled towards Gasseliki and Gaïk-Ngota.

Additionally, on the morning of December 24, 2023, air assets responded to a potential large-scale attack near Sollé in Loroum. Pilots observed a column of about a hundred motorcycles covering almost 10 kilometers from Sollé towards Titao and pursued them to Petaga. A group of terrorists rushed into a building in Petaga, where they were subsequently neutralized, with only three survivors managing to escape from the rubble.

In Bouro, a pickup truck heavily laden with ammunition and weapons was targeted and neutralized by air vectors. The vehicle, its occupants, and its contents were destroyed in two strikes.

The operations, as reported by the sources, are ongoing, aiming to restore peace and security in the region.
