Boromo Hosts Quarterly Popular Cross to Strengthen Peace and Social Cohesion in Balé Province

BOROMO – The periodic popular cross of the provincial direction of sports and leisure convened for the third time this year on Saturday, October 14, in the city of Boromo. The event was attended by administrative authorities and a wide range of workers from various socio-professional sectors in Balé province. According to the Burkina Information Agency, the cross aims to promote peace and social cohesion among local populations.

According to News Releases by Burkina Information Agency, Starting from the provincial stadium at 6:22 a.m., participants ran a closed circuit covering more than 3 km along the main thoroughfares of the city. The event was designed to accommodate all levels of fitness, as the race incorporated walking intervals to allow less-enduring participants to catch their breath during the course.

After completing the circuit, an aerobics session was held to further encourage relaxation among participants. Oversight for the event was provided by agents from the provincial sports directorate, the aerobics club, and the national police.

Ibrahim Boly, the High Commissioner of the province, expressed his approval of the periodic holding of the activity. According to Mr. Boly, the popular cross not only offers the chance for physical exercise but also serves to promote interaction among public and private sector employees.

Mr. Boly added that the intention behind these events is to utilize sports as a medium to foster peace and cohesion among various services and the local populace.

Since its inception earlier this year, the popular cross has been integrated into the regular activities program of the Balé provincial sports and leisure directorate. The director, Nourdine Kambou, highlighted that the initiative was originally conceived by the High Commissioner of the province, whose consistent attendance underscores the significance he attaches to the activity. Mr. Kambou also announced plans to convene participants for the final cross of the year this coming December.
