Bilateral Ties and Council Deliberations Dominate Burkina Faso News


Ouagadougou – This Friday in Burkina Faso, local newspapers extensively covered the bilateral relations between Burkina Faso and China, along with the latest proceedings from the council of ministers.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the council of ministers adopted a decree to establish a military penitentiary in Ouagadougou during their session on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The private daily Le Pays highlighted that this move is intended to align military justice with the standards of penitentiary establishments, as demanded by various jurisdictional authorities.



Further reports from the public daily touched on cultural events, noting the upcoming fourth edition of the Night of the Lompolo scheduled for November 15, 2024, in Ouagadougou, signifying the government’s acknowledgment of cultural contributors. Le Pays reported that former minister Boukaré Zoungrana has been appointed as ambassador to Chad.



Additionally, the Paalga Observer revealed the appointment of Hermann Ilboudo as the new CEO of BUMIGEB. In terms of international relations, Le Pays covered a delegation of Burkinabè journalists visiting China, a trip described as part of an effort to enhance communication and deepen bilateral friendship. The delegation’s itinerary includes a visit to the Hunan radio and television station, located in the mountainous southern province of China.
