Balé Child Protection Network Holds First Biannual Session of 2024.

Boromo: The Child Protection Network (RPE) Balé section convened its first biannual session on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Boromo, gathering numerous stakeholders engaged in child protection efforts. Under the leadership of the network coordinator, Emmanuel Fao, who is also the deputy prosecutor at the Boromo High Court, the assembly focused on evaluating past activities and planning future initiatives to safeguard children from various forms of violence.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session served as a platform for presenting the results of previous activities and outlining upcoming programs, along with delivering two key communications. The communications aimed to familiarize participants with the objectives of the RPE and reinforce the commitment of stakeholders towards the welfare of children. Lamoussahan Souali Ouédraogo, the provincial director in charge of humanitarian action, delivered the presentations, highlighting the urgent need for collaborative efforts in tackling sexual, ps
ychological, and physical violence, as well as neglect faced by children.

The discussions emphasized the importance of raising awareness and consolidating efforts among various actors to protect children from violence encountered in families, schools, and communities. The session also provided insights into good practices and legal frameworks concerning children’s rights, as shared by Ms. Ouédraogo.

Emmanuel Fao, the RPE coordinator, emphasized the session’s role as a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas, noting the diversity of participants as a significant advantage for the success of future activities. He expressed satisfaction with the session’s quality discussions and the active participation of invited structures, despite the challenges faced by the network over its four-year existence.

The Child Protection Network, a state initiative, comprises judicial actors, humanitarian services, defense and security forces, and educational stakeholders. It continues to receive support from partners, in
cluding NGOs dedicated to human rights and child protection. The session underscored the commitment of the network’s members and partners in advancing awareness and protection efforts, while inviting new actors and NGOs to join their mission.
